Critchfield family papers, 1937-1994.

Papers consist almost entirely of the correspondence between members of the Critchfield family, particularly by the children with their mother Anne, maintaining a strong sense of family. The letters date from 1943 to 1994. The majority of Bill Critchfield's letter are during his years as a Navy Seabee, his travels to various bases in the United States and from Treasury Island in the Solomon Islands chain. Richard's letters cover his years as a journalist covering the Third World, especially when teaching at Nagpur, India. Peggy's letters mainly cover her years in New Zealand (1971-1980). Mother Anne's letters are primarily from 1948-1950 when in Germany where son James was stationed. They include letters to her children as well as her sisters, Helen and Mary Collins, in Iowa. The Collins letters are primarily to their sister Anne between 1974 and 1982. There is also typed comments by Peggy Moffett regarding the letters, done just prior to their donation.
